Saluting Nurses
This is a short post, but it’s a personal and heartfelt one.
I was reminded earlier this month what a noble profession nursing is -- more specifically, maternity nursing. You see, my wife had a baby on October 15 (yes, I’m a very proud daddy!), and she needed several hours of labor to deliver him.
Her nurse, Lisa, was there every step of the way, saying just the right words in just the right way to help my wife through all of the requisite breathing and pushing. She was nurturing, supportive and encouraging.
We’re planning on sending Lisa a big box of chocolates to say thanks, and I’m also going to send along a note recommending that her boss give her a big fat raise. It was clear that Lisa is passionate about her work, and that she is very, very good at it.
So if you’re kicking around ideas for a new career, consider going into nursing. You’ll certainly have my respect.
Here are a few resources on the nursing field:

- "Job Profile: Registered Nurse”
- “Jump-Start Your Nursing Career”
