How Does Your Resume Look?

The Suggestion Kitty is back over at the Technical Careers @ Microsoft blog, and that's a good thing since the kitty is offering such sage advice. The April 13th post reminds us that the resume is a marketing tool, and while you must be honest, you should be sure to present your experiences in the best light possible. The blog offers this analogy:

"When Barbara Walters interviews a celebrity for 'The View' or one of her many 'Barbara Walters Specials,' a soft-filter is applied to the video. The end result is still the real subject telling the same story, but the picture you see is easier on the eyes…it's softer and more appealing. Gone are the blemishes, blood-shot eyes and out-of-place hairs. The image invites you to keep watching and listening...even if the celebrity herself is less than engaging!"

I have always worked as a bartender or waitress and now i am ready to move on to a more profesional career but the only experience i have is in the hospitality bussiness . Is there something i can put in my resume to atract some employers to give me a chance in other areas like administrative or financial?

I wanted to know if my resume was bland .I have had several jobs.Which I know makes me look bad. I know that the city I just moved to ,I will be here for a while. So now I am looking for a chance with a company, entry level it doesn't matter, that will give a chance until I go back to school and become certified.

hey i would be very if you can please help me to write my resume .i think my wording is very poor . i work in a shipping companies before. typed correspondence,handled busy phones,filing taking orders,organized customer drepanancies and inquired on shipment..i was once a cashier .

I am really need your help me and teach me how to do start with a resumes and cover a letter. I have a problem with poor english word processing proper on the resume/cover a letter. There are some interesting comments here. A great cover letter is cruicial so take time to get it right. There is lots of advice out there to help you.
