Random Things You Can Learn Online
I am on the Internet almost every single day, yet it still absolutely amazes me. Although I’ve spent countless hours online, I am awed that without getting out of my chair at my desk right now, I can:
- Send an email to my buddy in England.
- IM my friend in California.
- Listen to any song in the world.
- Download any new software I desire.
- Watch video clips from last night’s basketball game.
- Read about anything that happens to be in the news today (or yesterday or last year).
But what astounds me more than any of those things is the fact that I can just go to Google and type in "survey of American workers" and find out the following:
- A national survey of American workers' eating habits during the work day revealed that nearly one-third of workers skip breakfast, lunch or both nearly every weekday.
- This survey reveals that some 23 percent of American workers have been driven to tears as a result of workplace stress, with 10 percent working in an atmosphere where physical violence has occurred, and 12 percent work where machinery or equipment has been damaged through workplace rage.
- A Harris Poll conducted in 2000 showed fully 60 percent of workers over 50, compared to only 47 percent of those under 25, are very satisfied with their jobs. A third of all workers (32 percent) say it is very likely that they will choose to change jobs in the next five years.
- A survey of American workers found that more than 30 percent of them are "always" or "often" under stress at work. A preponderant number (62 percent) complained that they could not use their allotted vacation.
- According to a survey of American workers, more than half said they did something unethical or illegal in the previous year because of "pressures."
- A survey of American workers found that 63 percent rank a simple pat on the back as a meaningful incentive.

I saw where 26% of people never take any vacations at all. It was part of a silly site from Universal Orlando Resorts, iwantmyvacation.com. They were calling it Vacation Deprivation.
