Holiday Job Hunting
Whether you are counting down the hours until you go on vacation or stressing over finishing your holiday shopping, you are probably busy this month -- and pushing back your career-related plans till next year. You rationalize that everyone, including hiring managers, are in the same boat; no one is hiring right now, right? Wrong.
According to Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc., the oldest outplacement company in the world, job seekers actively looking for work during the holidays will likely land several interviews. While some hiring managers are on vacation, others are working -- and you may have a better chance of attracting their attention when your peer job seekers are taking a break from searching.
Every year, Challenger, Gray & Christmas hosts a job search hotline that job seekers can call to get free career advice. This year for the first time ever, the company is taking your questions via email at callin@challengergray.com from December 29 through 30. If your Internet is down (or your eyes are getting sunburned from the screen), you can call Challenger's hotline from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST during these days at (312) 332-5790. More information can be found at Challenger, Gray & Christmas's Web site.
Good luck with your search -- for a job, a gift, a nap, etc.
