Dress for the Job You Have

Have you ever walked pass a coworker and had to do a double take because of what this person decided to wear to the office? I am often amazed at what people feel qualifies as work attire.

I know it’s easy to fall into the comfort of a familiar job, especially in a business casual environment -- just remember that someday you may want a promotion. You wouldn’t want your prospective boss to remember you as the woman with the cleavage or the guy with the shaved legs, do you?

You’d be surprised how many people notice you in the hallways and lunchrooms, even in a large corporation. Keep in mind you can dress casual, but there is a line.

How you dress at work reveals how much you care about your job. You could be the best worker, but if your boss questions the impression you might make on management or a customer, he may think twice about offering you that high paying job with the corner office.

While “dress for the job you want, not the job you have” is a cliché, sometimes you just want to tell people to put some clothes on.
